8K Hero Remembrance Run, Walk, or Roll

Event:
The purpose of this event was to raise awareness for the Tripler Fisher House in how they can assist military families during medical crisis or loss. There’s no cost to participate, and has remained open to military and civilians. Held on Ford Island on Saturday, August 18, 2012 and culminated on the island’s bridge where the boots and photos of fallen soldiers, mostly those with Hawaii ties, were displayed. A small military ceremony complete with an air show began the run, walk, or roll; and reportedly no one rolled.

Luz (Don’s mom) had volunteered in the organizing of this event and made sure Don and the whole crew of Chris, Nick, and Dean each had a pair of boots and were side-by-side on Ford Island Bridge. A few members of Don’s family and close friends were in attendance, wearing his photo. But it was also nice to see others wearing photos of Don’s crew as well.

Sleep well boys! Thank you for all your efforts and sacrifice. You’ll not be forgotten.
